How to look younger in pictures

If you’re over 40, your profile picture is a tightrope.

You need to own your age… and maybe look younger… but no surprises in person. Here’s how I pull that off:

  • Moisturize, drink enough water, and get enough sleep
I can’t stress this enough. Hydrating and sleeping enough for a week before a shoot will make a WORLD of difference. Moisturizing helps even more. Make it your routine and you’ll feel powered up for anything, any time. No prep required.
  • Stick your forehead out and down (when facing forward)This stretches the skin on the neck, which diminishes wrinkles and sharpens the jawline. Not doing this tells the camera to add 10 pounds.
  • Squinch
This helps you look confident. Squinching means raising the lower eyelids ONLY. We do it unconsciously when we laugh, which is why some people unhelpfully call it “smizing,” or smiling with your eyes. Because you’re letting in less light, you signal you’re not in danger. (We call the opposite deer in headlights.) You keep the upper lids up because lowered means you’re sleepy.

These will work any time, anywhere. Happy shooting!
